13A- Reading Reflections

1)     I read the book “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson. I was surprised that Steve Jobs payed such specific attention to detail. I admired his perfectionism but did not admire the fact that he was often very rude to the people around him. Obviously, Steve Jobs encountered some forms of adversity. He did not create a technological phenomenon without struggles and some failures, but these did not stop him from turning his ideas into reality.

2)     Steve Jobs was very creative and had a unique outlook on many issues and opportunities. He was innovative and used his creativity to become a revolutionary inventor.

3)     One part of Steve Jobs life that confused me was why he failed to acknowledge that he had a child. Steve Jobs chose to deny paternity of his daughter Lisa, and I still don’t really understand why he chose to do this.

4)     The first question that I would ask Steve Jobs would be is there any one event in his life that triggered his thoughts to create the iPhone and Apple technology.  The second question that I would ask Steve Jobs is if he was ever happy and what makes him happy. It seems as if he was never satisfied with his work or the people around him. I want to understand if he was ever happy even after the success of Apple and the fortune that it brought him.

5)     I think that Steve Jobs believed that hard work was essential for the success of a product or idea. It was his hard work and devotion that led him to be so successful. I agree that hard work is necessary for success but I do not think that you should sacrifice your relationships with friends and coworkers as Steve Jobs did in order to reach his goal of success.

  1. It’s interesting that you brought up how Steve Jobs was known for being dissatisfied with those around him. I’ve heard that many times and it always surprised me. I really did not know that he denied being a father to his daughter. This really makes me think less of him as a person.

  2. I also read the Steve Jobs autobiography and I agree with your assessment of him being a perfectionist who was not very kind to others. I found it interesting all the different ways people viewed him. Also, I did find his family life to be very confusing. Asking him if he is happy or what makes him happy would be interesting I would love to hear his response to the question. Overall Great Job.
