15A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior 2
To
be honest, I am not sure if I am doing this the right way because my answers
and interviews seem very similar. My service is being advertised a niche in the
marine market, and I feel like I am repeating myself in a lot of my blog posts.
Maybe I am doing the assignments wrong. I do not know if that is specific to me
or if others feel the same about their idea. Please let me know in the blog post
response.
As
far as this assignment, the only alternatives outlined by my interviewees and
myself would be to stick to the existing services that marinas offer them,
which includes no cleaning, thus requiring my customers to clean the boats by
themselves. I explained how the price of my service would be included in the
marina’s monthly premium. Two of the interviewees said how this would mean that
the price would not affect their decision to use my service and keep their
boats at the marina where my service is offered. The third boat owner explained
how he would prefer to clean his boat by himself and that if the marina that
offered my service had a significantly higher price, he would not store his
boat there. He would not view my service as a perk and would only store his
boat in the best marina based on what he deemed best location, price, etc.
The
fourth part of where they buy my service was irrelevant because it is not a
peer to peer transaction, but instead an included amenity, so I chose to opt
out of this part of the interview.
When
I asked about the post service evaluation, the two interviewees that would use
my service explained how if they did not believe that I was doing a job that
met their standards, they would vocalize it to my employees and the boat marina
that hosts my service. In the end one person said that he would not switch
marinas because of my service, as the main point of keeping a boat at a marina
would be the location and price. He explained that my service would just be an “added
bonus” to him. This led me to come to the conclusion that when contacting
marinas, I would likely have to look at location myself and try and sign
contracts with marinas that have high traffic and lots of clients.
I think you’re getting similar answers because there’s only so much you can say about your product. It’s a very straight forward and practical idea so I wouldn’t worry about similar interview responses. For this assignment specifically, I interviewed people in my market about their general purchasing behaviors not just the behaviors related to my product. Maybe you could try something like that to expand your answers.
