18A- Create a Customer Avatar

My prototypical customer is a middle to upper class boat owner who enjoys spending time on the water. Because of his/her love for the water and boats, they will either be a fisherman or a person who likes to take their family out on cruising adventures. The boat owner who owns a cruising vessel will likely have a family, but the fisherman may not. Most of the customers will be above the age of 24, as college students rarely own and use boats on a regular basis. Most likely, the target customer will be above 40 and have a well-paying job. A large percentage of customers may also be retired. People who are retired have more free time to spend on hobbies such as boating and fishing.

I have a lot in common with this avatar, as I too like boating and fishing. I will likely have the same characteristics and interests as my target customer when I am older. I do not think that this is a coincidence, as I based my business idea off of something that I know well and enjoy.

  1. It seems like you did a good job describing what your customer attributes would be. It makes sense that most of them will be college graduates because they must be able to afford a boat which is not cheap. I struggled to really explain the specific details of the customer’s life such a s kids and other small things which it seems like you maybe a had a bit of trouble with too. But overall it seems like you did a good job.

  2. You did a good job describing your customer base paying attention to details like age, and income levels. The only suggestion I would give you is instead of a general he/she type explanation a more individualized approach and focusing in on one specific customer. This just helps to create more details because it's hard to think of specifics when you're describing a population. Overall, you described your customers well so good job!

  3. Great job on your avatar. You did a great job describing your prototypical customer and the lifestyle he may live. In great detail you were able to give me a good sense of the type of person your product attracts. Also, great job explaining what you have in common with your prototypical customer. I feel your love of boats makes you relate to your potential customers.
